Don’s comments

First I must say that I am enjoying this trip very much, although I have made the trip from the USA to Europe close to 300 times over the past 21 years.   I know that Jeff has learned a lot and that he will be a safer pilot after this flight, and that is worth the whole trip.

I have learned also from Jeff, and this has been a very unusual trip in several ways.  Some things have happened that have not happened to me in previous trips due to the “Jeffy” effect.

Jeff is a quick learner and I normally don’t have to show him something but once and he “gets” it.  The radio procedures in the North Atlantic and especially in Europe are very different from flying in the USA.   I have come to accept it, but it was a surprise to Jeff, but he is learning and will be able to handle it well on his next trip.

We’ve had some interesting approaches and landings with bad weather, bad cross winds and strange airports.  And this has been complicated with below standard GPS performance from the G1000 equipment.  This can and will be corrected in the future.  We’ve had to fly with no database in the G1000, using only the “user” database that we put in ourselves.

We are on our way back now, in Iceland at a very nice resort called Northern Light Inn, for a couple of nights and will get some good rest.  We will depart on Monday for Greenland and Canada.Â

We have the databases for Canada and USA so that will be a piece of cake for Jeff.

I have enjoyed the trip and will forever be grateful to Jeff for a nice trip.  We will make more trips in the future.
